'Twas the last day of 2018, December 31, 2018, to be exact.  It was a gorgeous day in the 70s here in sunny Florida.  I was off from teaching so I packed up my easel and paints and headed to the springs near my house with an old student of mine.  We tromped around looking for a good place to set up, which took a while since there was so much beauty to take in!  Then, this bridge caught my eye.  The light, the reflection - I was mesmerized by it!  I set up my easel nearby and began to paint. It felt so good to be outdoors in God's creation, taking it all in and pouring it all out onto my canvas. I wasn't really thinking about much as I painted, just freely putting down the paints, feeling  joy, peace, and rest!

 

When I went back to my studio, I realized since it was the last day of 2018, it was somehow significant that I was attracted to this bridge to paint.  Bridges can be symbols of transition, I mused. Smooth transitioning from 2018 into 2019 where there is rest, peace, light, and hope, this was my outer artistic representation of my inner feeling or perception.  I believe God works in and through us when we are open an available.  This is my prayer for you, as you view the work of my hands, that you, too, would bridge/transition into a place of rest, peace, light, and hope this upcoming year.
